imho if someone owned for example the PRO 4 version in many cases might haven't even a reason to upgrade to 5 for real though artist is another case. all depends on how someone needs to work and his priorities. how much time someone will need to spend for learning them, while they will probably miss tiny or big other features that are coming to S1 by default. Just check how more expensive other DAWs are, and how someone will be able to deal with limited busses, limited midi or audio tracks, etc if working on big projects. i probably see the limitations you mentioned as not so important for the most people tbh. though from version to version there are some stupid limitations. it's stable, gets frequent upgrades, it actually works, has good stock plugins.easy to learn etc. don't forget that even in the past this DAW considered as a shareware application unlike some others.
On the other hand about video import, etc. though when it comes to Write/Compose Music in the Daw for some reason i really enjoy the midi editor more for some reason, everyone works as he likes and finds it more useful, fun, faster for him. i am a normal musician myself (guitarist/pianist). The lack of a basic score editor strikes me as odd This is certainly not worth paying to upgrade off of Artist 4.6, particularly if you already paid for VST/AU support. The other stuff is a bit more permanent, and I feel unnecessary to restrict. Lack of VST/AU support was never really a dealbreaker, because this is something that could easily be bolted on, anyways. I'd bias to something like WaveLab or SoundForge (or even Audacity) for that kind of work, personally. Even GarageBand is better, IMO.Īll DAWs work well as Tape Machines (Podcasters, etc.). I also don't understand Low SKU products omitting basic MIDI FX like an Arpeggiator - though that can be bolted on via VST, so it's less of an issue. The lack of Chord Track/Pads strikes me as odd, as well - given the audience this is generally targeted at. The lack of a basic score editor strikes me as odd.
